Making flowers using corrugated cardboard
Making corrugated cardboard flowers also know as (ribbed) cardboard. This is a lovely craft work idea for springtime. These flowers are made of strips of corrugated cardboard. I used yellow and white to make these daisies, but, of course, you can also use other colours to make different flowers.
How to make corrugated cardboard flowers:
- You need strips of corrugated (ribbed) cardboard which are available from several craft work stores. You also need scissors, skewers, glue or a glue gun, a jar and floral foam.
- If you do not have strips of ribbed cardboard you can also cut strips from a large sheet of corrugated cardboard, the strips need to be about 1 cm in width.
- You need five white rolls for a flower and one yellow roll for the heart of the flower .
- Roll the strips up and glue them. While the glue is drying it is best to hold the rolls in position otherwise they can become unstuck very quickly. You can also use a glue gun. Watch out for your fingers!
- Before you start on the yellow centre, cut strips to half the length of the strip of cardboard. Then when you roll up the cardboard you can push these flat with your thumb, forming the heart of the flower.
- To fix the flower together I use a glue gun which works more quickly than ordinary glue.
- Cut out stalks and leaves from green corrugated cardboard. Glue a wooden skewer between the stalks so that they will stand up straight when you place the flowers in a pot with floral foam.
You can make these pretty flowers in the spring. These flowers made from corrugated cardboard are also fun to make for Mother’s Day. By painting your flower pot you can make this craft project even more special for Mother’s Day. Make as many flowers as you like, using all of colours of the rainbow.
You can also make really cute animals using these strips of corrugated cardboard.
