How to turn a footprint into the image of a robin
In the winter we often see a robin in our garden. Would you like to make a robin craft? They are so cute. You will need to take your socks off so that you can make a footprint but getting a bit messy can be fun for children and of course at the end we have a pretty and cute winter theme craftwork piece.
How to make a robin craft using a footprint:
- Ask the children to take their socks off, get them to help each other.
- Spread out a large dollop of poster paint onto a large piece of cardboard.
- Ask the children, individually, to carefully place a foot into the poster paint.
- Have another sheet of A4 paper ready and ask the child to place their foot onto it.
- They will need to keep their foot quite still or you will get too many smudges.
- Hold the paper still while the child lifts their foot.
- If you are not happy with the result try again. Sometimes you get a better print when there is less paint on the foot.
- Allow the footprint to dry and then use red poster paint for the bird’s chest, feet and the beak.
- Add a googly eye to finish your Red Robin.
TIP: You can of course paint branches and twigs for your robin to perch on. You can even stick some real Autumn leaves onto your artwork
